Many of the comic book examples just seem to be a Home Base. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure adventures very rarely happen in the Batcave, and only slightly more often in Avengers Mansion or the Baxter Building. Arkham, sure, but even then it's not the default; Arkham's mostly where the villains escape from to fight Batman elsewhere.
