I'm not sure about the title. The title "bromantic foil" sounds like a woman who is the jealous foil of the best bro of the guy she likes, like the bromance is standing in the way of her romance.

To what degree can this trope be applied to characters outside Japan? Jughead, for instance? (He's not a pervert, but he seems to have the rest of it down.)

Does this have a Distaff Counterpart? I seem to remember that a lot of heroines in Romantic Comedies have nerdy, less desirable friends.
