I know Most Tropers Are Young Nerds but I rewrote the description and changed the quote in order to place more emphasis on actual hip-hop instead of parody.
Alright, looking at the edit history things've gotten a bit silly over the quote at the top. I moved both to the quotes page for now. The question is this: which is better to have on the trope page itself?
Both are actually fairly good quotes. The LL Cool J quote is a good example of what the trope is, while the Binary Star one, while a response, also does a good job of explaining what the trope is talking about.
My opinion, I think the Binary Star quote is better for the page and the LL Cool J quote should stay in the quotes page. Anyone else agree/disagree? We could also just leave both in the Quotes page, but then we don't have a page quote.
"The fact that your food can be made into makeshift bombs alarms the Hell out of me, Scrye." - Charlatan Hide / Show RepliesI don't really see why a page quote is really necessary here. If I remember correctly, we want quotes to be short and sweet to let the reader progress to the meat of the article quickly. I can't think of any example of a boastful rap that is short and sweet. I mean, sure, it'd be nice to have a quote, but this trope is very much Exactly What It Says on the Tin, and if someone comes along who doesn't like LL Cool J, then we get this all over again, and rapper fandom rivalries aren't usually very polite.
The examples are currently Parodies first, Straight examples second. If it's cool with everyone, I'm gonna reverse that.
