I think Mass Effect 2 and the Modern Warfare games would also be examples of this.
I'm working on a Twilight fanfic that uses blood as one of the main themes. Heck, it's called Capillary, which should tell you something. I wonder if it counts as an example of this trope, since not a single chapter goes without at least mentioning blood.
