GTA added their own point of view to this trope, mixing vehicles from Mad Max, Fast and Furious, The Death Race (from the gory Carmageddon and also a movie, with a Mustang carrying the literally named Tombstone in the back), and Monster Jam, into a single DLC named Arena Wars with the interesting premise of being a TV show that you sign up to take part yourself. The vehicles are TAME by comparison to what happens outside of the Arena Wars game mode, making them fun but not game-breaking. In fact they are borderline useless when dealing with other players.
But the real gem is the MOC, or mobile operation center, that can take 60 homing missiles before exploding. It presents itself as a semi-truck with a trailer containing a mobile shop, a set of missions and possibly a gun locker. Very few OBJECTS in the game have enough firepower to stop one of these, making it worthy of the title of Big Badass Rig indeed.
