Per TRS, porn/hentai/ecchi works that are intended to be racy are excluded, and this is limited to examples where the fanservice is a minor part of the work.

TRS decided to open a cleanup thread, which is here.

This trope is (probably inevitably) turning into an index of tropers' favorite nude scenes. It should probably receive an examplectomy, or at the very least be limited only to discussions of entire series.

It definitely needs to stop it with the Gushing About Breasts You Really, Really Like. (That's an unfortunate trope name in this context, which I mention only to prevent others from pointing it out.)

To avoid an edit war over the whole Thread Mode argument, I shall peserve it here because it is so blasted funny.

  • Jacqueline Bisset. The Deep. Wet T-shirt. That scene made "wet T-shirt" a household phrase, even among people who never saw the movie.

This kind of entry is the reason one should always research to double-check before making a change to a page. My immediate reaction was "What? Those contests are older than that. The wet T-shirt scene made the movie a household name, but the term is surely Older Than They Think."

And it is; wet T-shirt contests date back to the 1940s. But, while they did take place before 1977 and this movie, they weren't common enough to qualify as popular. After The Deep, they were.

So, kudos to the author of this entry, and I'm glad I checked before changing it.

what is it called when this happens in universe? House MD had a plot in one episode when house was trying to remember the stripper from Wilson's bachelor party to bring to Chase's... she nearly killed Chase with her lotion's perfume. House spent at least one episode trying to remember her name.

Now you went and deleted the Incredibles example. Least now I know this has less to do with a example that doesn't fit with the trope but more on you having some kind of personal issue with me. If I had to report you to a mod I would

Legato, the trope is very clearly defined. This:

is an unsupported opinion. I don't know of anyone who, when hearing someone else mention The Incredibles, has said, "Oh, yeah, that's the one with that great ass shot of the mother, isn't it?" And don't think that this is some sort of vendetta by Freezer, because they aren't even the one who deleted this.

Besides, from what I've seen, more people remember Elastigirl's introductory scene, where she snakes herself around Mr. Incredible's leg - neither of which are anywhere close to the first or most prominent thing people remember from The Incredibles. (And I didn't even notice the entry until after it was deleted.)

Which part of "it's not fanservice and it doesn't fit" did you not understand? Besides, you said it yourself: "some fans". Not "all", not even "most." Some. And how many of those "some" aren't Kigo fans to begin with? Come up with a better reason than "It's what I think of first," then we'll talk."

If you recall the rules deleting a topic because you dont agree with ones opinion is not a reason to delete a topic. Otherwise it leads to editing for the sake of editing. Which is what you prefer to do.

So deleting an example that doesn't fit the trope, after stating why it doesn't fit the trope (more than once on both counts, by the way) counts as "editing for the sake of editing?" Alrighty then.

Besides, by the logic that would include Kim/Shego, half the entries under UST, BST, Ho Yay, Les Yay and Foe Yay would count. And they don't.

Legato, this trope is in effect only when the overwhelming memory of a work is a scene of Fanservice. There's no evidence that "the Les Yay between Kim and Shego" qualifies.

Freezer has explained twice why it isn't an example. That's not editing for the sake of editing. That's keeping bad examples off the page. Your defense has been "Is too." That's not very convincing.

Additionally, the fact that you keep adding these at the top of the section indicates that you either don't know or don't care about standard practices here. New examples go at the bottom.

This page seems like it could use some cleanup. Several entries are not about Fanservice at all, such as a citation I've just removed about Wrath of Khaaaaaa[etc.]aan.

Is there a trope page about single moments in a film that overshadow the whole thing without being Fanservice or a spoiler ("All You Need to Know About the Crying Game")?

Is the laconic accurate? As I understand it, the trope refers to the tendency of some viewers to dismiss the entire show/film/book/whatever as cheap titillation regardless of its quality because it uses fanservice at all, not because the fanservice is more memorable than the rest of the show.

Judging from the main page description, the Laconic version is accurate.
