Monsters aren't born of human fears. They're not born of any animal's fears. They're just born. They're animals too, most of them. Also, the term monster shouldn't be used as an insult towards bad humans, or any animal name for that matter. For that reason alone, people are actually dumb enough to think that cows, pigs, and whales are somehow naturally fat, that badgers are annoying animals despite being solitary, that rats are dastardly snitches, that cats are sly and selfish, that foxes and wolves are cunning beasts only concerned about their own survival alone (despite the pack mentality that wolves have), on and on. Let's not ruin the reputation of ANY of these creatures any worse than they already are. Hell, if non-humans evolve to the point where they can talk in the same manner, they might start using "human" as an insult because of it. If by the trope "humans are the real monsters" you mean that they're classified under the kingdom Animalia, sure they're monsters. But there's no such thing as "fake monsters". That's just another form of speciesism as it implies that anything called a monster is by default evil. That's what everyone used to think about wolves.
