I have a very unorthadox idea for a Beauty, Brains and Brawn trio because it consists of one woman and two men: Agents J, K, and L from Men in Black: The series. And surprise, surprise, the character I'm associating with beauty is actually one of the two men: Agent J, as he boasts about being good-looking and his catchphrase is "I make this look good." Agent K I'm associating with brawn as he is usually the one with access to the more advanced MIB technology, making him more of a powerhouse. And finally, the woman, Agent L, I'm definetly associating with brains, because she works in the lab and provides the trio with data analysis constantly.
- My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic
- Twilight Sparkle and Rarity - Brains; the former enjoys reading books, the latter is an artistic and sophisticated fashion designer.
- Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy - Beauty; the former likes making other ponies laugh and smile, the latter shows kindness to animals.
- Rainbow Dash and Applejack; Brawn; the former enjoys flying fast, the latter is an athletic farmer.
It is six characters for a trio and it's interesting that last time it was on the list Pinkie Pie was referred to as brains and Rarity was beauty. If they were an example it would be clear who is which one.
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer (seasons 2&3)
- Buffy - Brawn, though she has shades of The Beauty as a Cute Bruiser.
- Willow - Brains
- Cordelia - Beauty
They are not a team but people keep wanting to put it on the list.
- Bringing Up Bates: The oldest 3 daughters:
- Michaella- Brawn. She is a professional nanny. Sturdiest of the girls.
- Erin- Brains. Professional musician with a music degree from an accredited college.
- Alyssa- Beauty. Looks just like Britney Spears. Was married at the youngest age.
This gives no indication that it's a Power Trio and the context is weak. Being a professional nanny makes her brawny? The appearances sound option based.
Can one of the three be a guy? Consider the angel, the robot and the bum of Big O.
"Show us the Galaxy Warp." Hide / Show RepliesYee as Tropes Are Flexible. In fact, why is it Always Female? The trio do not always have to be female.
Edited by Kindle4LightAgreed. After all, some trios contain both female and male characters, and yet the trope fits them like a glove, then why not? Just ignore the genders.
It's specifically says on the description that's is involves a female Power Trio. If you have a problem with that make a thread on the trs
A thread was made on it a while ago (last February) and everyone in the thread seemed to agree that it should be gender neutral, but nothing ever came of it. Anyway, I agree, I can think of a clear example right now with female beauty, female brains and male brawn.
Nothing came of that thread and the Mods have already stated and enforced that this trope is female only. If you wanna add any examples that are that make a trs thread, or try to make a broader trope in the ykttw.
^ it's not about being fair it's about recognizing a specific pattern. Making it broader because you can shoehorn some cases only leads to trope decay. Read this thread specifically Madrugada's posts on why it's female specific.
So basically it's female only because only female characters can be one-dimensional (having only one of each trait as their defining characteristic), while males are allowed to have combinations of those. That's nice. Not.
Really, I don't see how the characters' gender would lead to Trope Decay. That's not a very strong argument, sorry. You keep saying it's that way because the page has always been that way, but why is it always a female power trio, again? Seems rather fuzzy. After all, personality traits have nothing to do with gender, or do they?
Edited by 113.190.188.182I suggest making it like the Blonde, Brunette, Redhead page: Traditionally Female, occasionally with male examples
Edited by 113.190.188.182You can make a TRS thread, if you still disagree but so far two mods have asserted that it's a female only trope.
Like so many other people have done? Won't have any effect if the mods won't listen to everyone else.
Who in the heck are those three people in the image? Why not throw Harry, Ron and Hermione up there and call it a day?
Hide / Show Replies"Brains" and "brawn" are easy to pick out. "Beauty" is a little harder, but not impossible, and there are only three anyway.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione are not beauty, brains, and brawn, and more importantly, they don't look it.
Edited by rodneyAnonymous Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Does anyone else disagree with the Neon Genesis Evangelion example (originally Rei = Brains, Misato = Beauty, Asuka = Brawn)? Rei is least qualified to be Brains; Misato is a great strategist and Asuka is supposed to be a teen prodigy. I think Rei could fit as Beauty, considering her large fandom.
Edited by melloncollie Hide / Show RepliesI think Rei could fit as Beauty, considering her large... [[I thought it meant]]...
Edited by sdmitch16 Will I be informed if people reply to my discussion post? Also, does anyone else disagree with the first Sailor Moon example? The only way Rei could be considered Brawn is if we go by the dub version. Rei/Ami/Makoto would fit the trope much better (but then Minako messes it up).
Hide / Show RepliesIt's since been changed to work in all five. But it's not very satisfactory. Rei is, indeed, far less brawny in the original than the dub, and not at all in the manga. She is also, regardless of viewers' preferences, the one who is most noticed as a beauty by the other characters. I'm going to cut it.
She-Hulk is all three of those! X3
