Probably not an example — seems a bit of a stretch from the fictional back-alley doctor trope to Real Life euthanasia.

Dr. Jack Kevorkian. He performed euthanasia in his van, with a machine he built from old toys.
- An exception to the rule, in that the worst and only complication of this procedure is identical to the desired outcome. If at first you don't succeed, add more pentothal.
  - "Wow, I've never felt healthier!" "...shit."
