This could use a better title. I feel only a small handful of these tropes (eg: Persecuted Intellectuals) would qualify as anti-intellectualism in real life.

"Detecting trace amounts of mental activity. Possibly a dead weasel or a cartoon viewer"

There's been a line added claiming, "note", that deconstructing anything in fiction having to do with intelligence counts as "anti-intellectualism".

I dun get it.

It says deconstructing one of the Intelligence Tropes is anti-intellectualism, not just "anything having to do with intelligence". Imagine one of these tropes (like Awesomeness by Analysis, Renaissance Man or The Philosopher) being deconstructed. Deconstructing a trope usually gives a good hint that the creator doesn't like this trope very much and wants to make the point that it (= too much intelligence or being an intellectual) has or should have negative consequences in real life, ergo anti-intellectualism.

Why is Japanese Spirit anti-intellectual? Talent, insight, and persistence are hardly "anti" intelligence.

Honor is typically anti-intellectual in and of itself. It was considered a part of Japanese culture that bravery would come before academics.

Does anyone else think that maybe the Pink Floyd page quote is inappropriate, since the song "Another Brick in the Wall" is clearly not anti-intellectual but anti-establishment. The idea isn't that we don't need knowledge, but that we don't need social and mental conditioning in the often spirit-breaking form of public schools. "We don't need no education/We don't need no 'thought control'/No dark sarcasm in the classroom/Hey! Teacher! Leave 'em kids alone!"

Agreed. I'm going to go ahead and remove it, if anyone objects they can add it back in.
