I removed the hotlink to the superdickery site due to malware concerns (see discussion on the Superdickery page).
The site has been reported to carry malware apparently (superdickery.tumblr.com/ being the safe alternative apparently).
While I know a lot use noscript + adblock (or "notscripts" + adblock for chrome users), not everyone does. Also even if they do, they need to configure noscript properly to block iframes (not done by default last I remembered) too for example. I think it's a good idea to remove the link just to be safe.
Edited by Goldfish2 Hide / Show RepliesDoes it even need the hotlink? After all, the page image is the page of the dictionary in question.
It would be polite, yes.
Not expressly NEEDED granted, but it's good internet form to at least give a linkback.
It is good form not to link to malware infected sites. Link backs are nice, but not as nice as not giving your user base viruses.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickNatter removal:
- Though they might have chosen a better episode for that than the one where Dukat was revealed to have command hallucinations.
- Nor did it help that the whole series ran on Grey-and-Gray Morality, with Sisko and Dukat both being extremely morally ambiguous.
- Yeah, Dukat's so truly evil he saved Sisko's life. Twice. In the same episode where Sisko calls him truly evil.
Incidentally, the examples presented above are exactly why this trope exists. Dukat murdered millions and was pissed off when many of the friends and family of those millions were not on bended knee because he didn't kill more. Those hallucinations started long after his term as Prefect of Bajor was over.
Also, he may have saved Sisko's life in that episode, but it was only so that he could try to bring Sisko around to his way of thinking. Oh, and then he beat the shit out of him with a pipe, when Sisko found out he had not activated the distress beacon!
Yeah, he's totally not evil
Just because a guy isn't a card-carrying villain doesn't mean he isn't clearly evil. The only thing even remotely "grey" about him was his daughter. And that was only because she was the only person who loved him unconditionally, which was exactly the kind of thing his massive ego enjoyed.
Someone can be on your side and be evil. Someone can seem to be reasonable and be evil. Someone can sometimes have defensible reasons for their actions and still be evil. You don't get to be "grey" by being an unrepentant mass-murdering egotistical bigot.
