I think we might need to expand the parameters of this trope Or at least creat another. I feel like the definition is to restrictive when and alternat universe counter part of a character being more badass than the main one is enough of a common occurrence in media to be a trope.

Ace Rimmer (or at least the one from "Dimension Jump". I'm aware the "Tikka to Ride" Ace is a hologram.) comes from the vague 21st-23rd century setting of Red Dwarf's origin story and pre-radiation leak flashbacks. In his home reality, he's not even ON the ship, nor has any effect on Red Dwarf's trip back to Earth (nor the search for Red Dwarf in series VI and VII) once Rimmer becomes a hologram. The point of his character (both the "Dimension Jump" and "Tikka to Ride" version) is that he visits other realities and other Rimmers. Technological and societal changes don't really play a part in it.

  • Because it was Superman's fault, Lex was kicking back enjoying the good life with his wife and son until Superman zoomed in to attack Lex and try and drag him back to earth. If anyone should have been doing 'What have I done!' it's Superman, it's a perfect example of 'Great job breaking it Hero!'.
    • Unfortunately, Lex had already started to revert to form before Superman showed up to catch him. In the story referred to, he'd been, testing an ancient Lexorian warsuit he planned to use on Superman in the future by having it wreak random property destruction on Lexor.
  • So Lex should be allowed to get way scott free for trying to Take Over the World uncountable Times because he turned good on one world? At the vest least his past crimes need to be acknowledged by his new home.

Natter. And to answer the last one (because I can't resist): 1. You're getting rid of one of the biggest supervillains ever by letting him being a nice guy far away? Why not? It's not like prisons have stopped him before anyway, might as well try something new, even if it makes him a Karma Houdini. 2. The massive destructive potential of a Supes/Lex fight doesn't necessarily outweigh the "gains" of bringing him to justice (which consist mostly of having an even more vengeful supercriminal close enough to home to come gunning at you and everybody else at any time anyways); what's the point if a whole planet dies because you didn't leave well enough alone? 3. If he has a relapse, THEN you can go face him anyway; just set up a way to monitor him in the meanwhile.

I know this: if life is illusion, then I am no less an illusion, and being thus, the illusion is real to me.

What about in "Marvel Adventures Fantastic Four" issue #19? His powers temporarily neutralized by Arcade in his Murderworld, Reed is able to:

  • Use geometry in a hall of mirrors to send a laser blast back at its source.
  • With sense of smell, able to tell three pieces of cake (of which he must choose and eat one) are laced with paprika sulfate (which causes an explosive charge when it would react with silverware). He just takes a piece and eats with his hands.
  • Using The Power of Friendship, Reed's able to convince Arcade's robots to abandon Arcade. And help him defeat the gamesman.

It also taught him an important lesson: If you don't understand people's feelings, you're not getting the whole picture. Which he applied to the robots and got them to turn on Arcade.

None of that has anything to do with what the trope actually means. Please read the description, no, it is not about when a different continuity's Reed Richards does something awesome.
