"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIs the movie this trope refers to still known at all? It didnt ring a bell with me.
Optimism is a duty. Hide / Show RepliesSame here, I had no idea what it was. (For reference, I was born in 1996 and I don't watch a lot of movies.)
Ah, the joys of Pop-Culture Osmosis Failure :)
Should this be moved into YMMV since It Was His Sled is also YMMV?
Hide / Show RepliesYes. Would be a matter for the Trope Repair Shop.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI think we need to create another Meta Concept trope for a result of All There Is To Know About The Crying Game and It Was His Sled I've often seen: the Orphaned Spoiler, which is what happens when a spoiler that everyone already knows doesn't really make sense unless you know what led up to it.
Not my circus, not my monkeys. Hide / Show RepliesWould be a YKTTW question, I think.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI think we should lock this page. There's no point in letting people edit a page which can't have any examples on it.
People refuse to believe I was just as shocked by Luke IAM Your Father as they where because of this Trope since I was born in 1985. But really I was pretty out of the Pop Culture loop until I 14. I first saw Star Wars when I was like 9.
I'm Confused what the Difference is between this and It Was His Sled.
Additional Unknown Hide / Show RepliesIt Was His Sled is where the twist is famous. This is where it's famous ONLY for the twist.
Darth Vader is Lukes Father is It Was His Sled but it's not this trope because Star Wars is well known and most people know lots of other stuff about it too (Jedi, Force, Lightsabres, Yoda etc)
This troper understands this trope, and once saw it inverted to amazing effect. Since I don't know how to use spoiler tags, I'll jut say that I knew a character in The Sixth Sense was supposed to end up having been dead all along... but didn't recognize the character when they came on screen. It was like Tomatoin the Mirror two times over.
Since this was never posted, All There Is To Know About The Crying Game has been merged with It Was His Sled per this TRS thread.
