Why is it in pop-culture with exception of Doctor Who and i think Star Trek aliens are well Green?

The Space Whale, the Blob Monster, etc., are not actually sub-tropes of Alien Animals. Alien Animals is not a super-trope, but a specific trope about aliens that disguise themselves as common Earth animals (or entire species of common Earth animals that turn out to have been intelligent aliens all along). Does... does this matter at all, with how the first list is sorted?
