I believe the Animal Crossing example is just Hello, [Insert Name Here].
The following is the archived discussion from this trope's previous name, Anyone You Know:
Working Title: Anyone You Know: From YKTTW
Fly: Cutting:
- The Shining Force series does this when you name the main character and sometimes other important characters. However as all the main protagonists are silent leaving only "..." as any answer it becomes quite annoying when people are talking to you and then responding to something you never said and in no way wanted to go off to war just because some evil cult might be up to something. Oh you do get to make Yes or No answers but the result is always But Thou Must.
because it is not an example of the trope, and neither is it an interesting aversion. Also, the writeup isn't exactly cromulant.
Large Blunt Object: You could have tried to embiggen it...
Fly: I would have done had it been an example of the trope or an interesting aversion/subversion. :)
Xeno Veritas: Cut out:
- Obligatory The Legend Of Zelda entry: Most of the later games in the series, such as Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess, allow you to change Link's name at the outset. Some also allow to change the name of his horse (the default being Epona).
This is Hello, [Insert Name Here] and not this trope.
Puppet Chaos: I accidentally did one of these in Final Fantasy 8, when the option to name Griever (Squall's lion crest thing, which is also a Guardian Force) came up, I named it my last name for the lulz...I forgot that I did that, considering Griever is never mentioned by name for 99% of the game... come end of the game, when Ultimecia summons Griever, I shat bricks when it was my last name. It took me about a minute to remember that I did indeed rename Griever. I don't know if that's worthy of inclusion in the main entry, but it's a funny story.
Would Warframe using your username for the name of your Operator fall under this trope?
