Why does this article act as if Simpsons and Nutty Professor are somehow too "adult" for kids? Did they live through a different 1990s than this troper, with his very protective parents, did? Those were absolutely allowed and enjoyed as a family..

It's just one of those things where Your Mileage May Vary.

But for the sake of accurately doing "Getting Crap Past the Radar" some justice, I put in a blurb about how a DA letters section circa early 1993 mentioned that Elijah Wood and Macaulay Culkin would both star in a movie called The Good Son. That movie, if you recall, ended up with an R rating and was generally unsettling for both moviegoers and critics alike (and probably even more so for any kids who may have gone to see it anyway just to see the Home Alone kid).

Although, now that I think about it, them mentioning The Good Son probably ended up being just an embarrassing faux pas from the editors rather than Getting Crap Past the Radar. Who knows.
