This article needs a little cleanup to clear a major misunderstanding. It repeatedly declares that the entire point was removing anyone who wasn't "good" enough and leaving only children and truly virtuous. However, in the Taking, many people went up as well as down; many of the most virtuous and brave people were taken to what may be presumed to be Heaven even as those who proved their corruption (in the author's eyes) were damned. What was left besides the children was not the cream of the crop, it was the middle, the people who managed to properly reject the demons but weren't ready to move on. Also, it seemed to focus on leaving specific individuals to provide proper guidance for the children.
