This book is epic. This book is a legend. This book is the better epic of the god, Homeros. Yes, he is the god for me. You should definitely read this epic, don't read Ulysses by Joyce, which screws up this legend. This is fantastic. The Odyssey is The Bible, while Ulysses is just a dead flea.

Wouldn't this count as Urban Fantasy? The trope is about present day earth + magical elements, and when The Odyssey was written, it kind of was that, wasn't it?

Technically yes; however, it would mean all mythology and religion counts as urban fantasy as well. So it's easier to keep it where it is.

I think I've read a few versions of the Odyssey in which Circe compares Odysseus to a fox (you know, what with her changing dudes into animals). Was this seen in older accounts of the story? If so, it could be an Older Than Dirt example of Cunning Like a Fox.
