I have a vague but definite recollection of there being a (country?) song along similar lines to Just to See You Smile with the bittersweet twist in the final verse being even (arguably) sharper: For the sake of his beloved's happiness, the singer signs the no-contest divorce papers instead of arguing (or going to court). Is my memory off (maybe conflating either Just to See Your Smile or another song that fits this trope with some non-musical work that has the ending I recall)? If not, can anyone identify the work I'm (imprecisely) remembering?
