Three possibilities for Gomez's outcast abilities - luck, damage resistance, or necromancy. In the original show and animated series, Gomez is outrageously lucky, in fact he cannot fail. He may be lucky to the point where he was accepted into Nevermore in spite of nobody knowing if or what his ability is. The second possibility is just damage resistance. Addams' have been shown about to do major damage to each other with no consequences later. They were shocked by Garrett's emotional violence, not the sword. Third is necromancy, supported by Goody, Thing, Lurch, and Uncle Fester. Goody placed a curse on Crackstone, preventing him from being easily brought back from the dead. Goody also communicated to Wednesday through the barrier of death and even healed Wednesday. Healing is often seen as the flip side to necromancy, as a power over flesh. We also know powers are passed down, Wednesday/Morticia, Enid's family. Gomez is the descendant of Goody. In this theory, Thing and Lurch are the results of Gomez's powers. Lurch looks like Frankenstein's monster and Thing is an early re-animation. This also explains Uncle Fester's electrical powers, as electricity is often used to bring back the dead in mad scientist scenes. The person is sometimes shown to discharge electricity
