This trope is still in TLP; if/when it's launched, this example can go back on the page.

  • Soft Robot: The aforementioned androids from the Alien franchise, with their iconic white "blood", are the Trope Codifier, and probably the Trope Maker as well. They are also one of the "purer" examples of this trope, as apart from a few wires, their inner workings are completely wet and squishy and not overtly mechanical at all, though still very inhuman.

Regarding Blomkamp's new film... His Twitter comments reveal that "[Fox] didn't really even know I was working on it" and that he started it because "Fox never said no." They didn't exactly say yes, either. Therefore, how set-in-stone his statements regarding rendering the last two films non-canon are is up in the air, especially since just last year Fox didn't let the author of the Alien: Sea of Sorrows novel - which they practically co-wrote and recognized as canon - decanonize them.

Blomkamps film wasn't the first time the continuity was messed with. Check out the 5 alternate fates of Newt and Hicks here: https://www.avpcentral.com/hicks-newt-alternate-fates
