^ What Arawn said, plus ruining Eddie's career for asking inconvenient questions (Drake didn't just get Eddie fired, he got him blacklisted).
- Fly, robin, fly! - ...I'm trying!Yeah, the whole point is that he's set up as Affably Evil but then is revealed as Faux Affably Evil over the course of the initial scenes.
Can we just say for the time being that the film is not in the MCU? The page seems to go back and forth on whether or not it's in the universe, but Feige and the Russo brothers have both stated quite clearly that it's not. Sony's statements about how its "kind of sort of except not really but maybe" tied in feel like they're trying to hitch a ride on the MCU money train and it's hard to take them at face value.
Edited by DrSleep Hide / Show RepliesYeah it's such bullshit that Sony thinks we're that dumb to believe them. You can clearly tell they're desperate at this point. Not only that, they changed the rating to pg13 and are now changing the tone to have more humor and for families. This here has made me lose all interest in this movie, and I could care less.
They literally changed this, since the movie tracking for Venom had the film below 50 million for the opening weekend, and that's bad, considering the movie has a total budget of around 200 million with marketing and other costs as well. Hoping this movie fails so badly, so Sony can give the rights back to marvel and look like total losers and idiots
To be fair, Spiderman Into The Spider Verse looks awesome. You'd think Sony would take a hint from that and go, "Gee, this movie looks super popular and everyone seems excited to see all these different Spider-men! Maybe we should put this villain verse idea on hold and instead consider making animated spin-off movies based on which Spider-men people seemed to like the most! We'd still have the brand recognition of Spider-man, and we'd still keep up Miles movies but the movies would feel fresh and original because they all take place in different settings and could have different characters! We'd even make sure to have multiple female and non-white Spider-man in there too so we can look progressive! And people sure seemed to like how Spider-Verse has a unique art style too, so maybe we could lean into that and give each movie a different aesthetic! We could have Spider-Man 2099 with a dark digital painting style, we could have SP//dr done anime style, heck maybe even make some fun Web animated shorts starring Spider-Ham to keep people interested in between movies! And maybe if the movies are successful enough, the folks at Disney/Marvel might let one of their characters cameo as an alternate version of themselves! Like wow, can you imagine how stoked people would be to see a steampunk version of Iron Man? Or see Sam Wilson as Captain America in the Spider-Gwen universe? We'd make ALL the money!"
Hire me Sony.
I'd peg Drake as being Faux Affably Evil, since he greenlit unethical experiments For Science!, threatened Skirth's children unless she complied with his orders, and fed her to a symbiote for her betrayal after lying to her that he'd help her save Eddie and do things differently - all prior to bonding to Riot.
