It's not gone, the namespace changes simply moved it away.

Concerning faster than light: By my calculations the ship travels something around 50.000kph and 75.000kph (so not nearly fast enought for FTL). I edited it in, but it got deleted as not relevant. I'm a bit confused how it is not relevant.

To my mind, the Did Not Do The Research entry is suspect: 2001 was made before the first Apollo landing, hence there was nothing to research. That entry should be moved to Science Marches On instead.

You apparently mistook my comments to mean I dislike the movie. This is wrong. It's one of my favorite movies of all time, and I don't think I've ever seen a Kubrick film I don't adore. I put the tropes I listed there because I felt they applied.

Anyone think this movie might deserve a So Bad Its Horrible entry with the explanation that people who love this movie love it, and people who hate it, really hate it. Basically, this is an extreme case of YMMV.

I absolutely disagree. SBIH is for movies that are met with near-universal disdain. 2001 is considered a science fiction classic and is beloved by a huge block of sci-fi fans, so putting it under SBIH would be idiotic.
