Why, why, why did Warner insist on that damn love triangle? Unless they're in a romance novel or movie, everybody hates them. The fact that this one is so vague and skipped over is testament to how nobody actually involved in the film wanted one, but how could Warner be that dense in the first place? The films are pretty divisive, but if there are two things everybody can agree on, it's that Alfrid and the love triangle suck.

The hobbit is a fantasy/action movie; clumsily grafting on a tepid, blurry nonentity of a love triangle was never going to end well. Even positive reviews of the movies complain about it, which honestly, given the genre of the film, was inevitable. My only guess is that they were trying to appeal to the Twilight demographic, and only succeeded in alienating both the viewers and the actors.

The discussion pages are more for things that concern the entries on the site. You want to use the forums or review section to discuss the film itself.

If they apply, you can go to the YMMV page and add Strangled by the Red String or (more likely) Romantic Plot Tumor.

Haven't seen the movie so I don't know if it applies or not.
