Ripped from the Headlines: Sure, there are some parallels between the attempted assassination of of Mr. White and death of Alexandr Litvinyenko, but it also likely that this assassination attempt is a shout-out to Agatha Christie's novel "The Pale Horse", given Mr. White's nickname ("Pale King") and the fact that in both cases the poison was thallium (lethal mainly due to its toxicity rather than radioactive properties).
