  • Take That!: When Kai betrays the heroes, he tells about surviving a failed rebellion against the Motherworld and how he vowed to never again be on "the wrong side of history." Then again, given Kai's death and how the story will likely end, perhaps this reaffirms rather than criticizes the idea that the moral arc of the universe bends toward justice.

This entry doesn't explain what the entry is a take that against, and I can't infer it from what's provided.

I went looking to see if there is a trope for when strange creatures are depicted by real animals with extra elements attached - this was very common in early movies (e.g. some of the dinosaurs in the 1933 King Kong) but it was also done in Star Trek TOS, Willow, and the original Star Wars. If there's a trope for this I can't find it, if not there probably should be as this is an entertaining category that is being kept alive by movies like Rebel Moon and their horses with hats.

Is anyone gonna update the info on the main page to something more accurate? It's literally been months it's been begging for one. For one, it being "conceived as a star wars film" is erroneous, as it was conceived decades before the pitch to lucasfilm "as seven samurai in space" and that was essentially still the pitch lucasfilm got and its jidaigeki inspirations is why the pitch was made, to use that link to bridge it with Lucas' own jidaigeki inspired star wars work. And even then, it was still pitched to be in its own corner of the SW universe, divorced from the trappings of the Galaxy far, far away. The seven samurai concept has always been the constant in all the years of developing it bc that's actually how and what it was "conceived" as.

The part about the story being planned as a two parter but enough being filmed for a complete trilogy, is also wrong. While there's been musings of a trilogy, Netflix's concerns over the length of the first film's script led Snyder to divide that movie's events between two films, to maintain the integrity of the work. That means, whatever was intended for the original movies 2 and 3 don't factor into what was filmed here for what became a 2-part "movie 1", and so enough content to make a complete trilogy certainly doesn't exist. What does exist is that enough footage was filmed specifically to give both films about an hour of extended directors cut material.

I'd do these corrections but I don't want to be embroiled in an edit war. So someone do the needful.

Okay, it's been 24hrs. For whatever reason no one's stepping up, I'll be doing the needful and updating the page with accurate information. And please, instead of turning this into an editing war, any interested party should read the vanity fair link in the main page. It's had all the accurate information I'm about to edit in for months for easy reference, while inaccuracies simultaneously were being written in.

They’re both so similar some people might think Rebel Moon is a remake of Battle Beyond the Stars.

Personally, I don’t care. If Rebel Moon is any good, fine by me.

I’m just that kind of guy, you know?

Isn't Battle Beyond the Stars one of those Star Wars knockoffs that came in its wake in 1977-1980?
