so - made by a director who was kidnapped and abducted to NK at the bidding of the dictator. The film is about a revolutionary struggle against a regime whose obsession with the military impacts on the ability of the people to even feed themselves, leading to famine and starvation. The revolutionary leader Pulgasari does his job faithfully at first - then becomes even more opressive than the regime he ousts. And he takes the form of a two hundred foot tall monumental statue in metal.

Is it just possible the abducted director was working all this in as a massive exercise on getting crap under the radar and a "screw you" to the north Korean regime that kidnapped him?
