Apparently, people were arguing over making it a Self-Demonstrating Article that went in reverse order. Arguing so much, it got locked.
the page for Irreversible has a trope list in reverse alphabetical order, would that be a reasonable compromise?
"The only way to truly waste an idea is to shove it where it doesn't belong."This thread is for edit requests to locked pages. I've asked there for you.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Page reverted to correct order and locked. In-jokes suck.
Goal: Clear, Concise and Witty Hide / Show RepliesWow. That's a bit of an extreme reaction. You could have just, you know, deleted the joke. Now if someone actually wants to add something useful, like a trope (because it's about the examples stupid - remember that, Fast Eddie?) they can't, because of your overreaction to a stupid joke that you could have fixed in a less severe way. But what else to expect, given the heavy-handed, Conservapedia-ish way you run this site...
Edited by AncientSilurianI don't believe the locking was necessary. For instance, after some discussion, I put a comment on the Mass Effect Character Sheet basically saying "no calling ordinary party members Ensemble Darkhorses, see discussion for reasoning." Never had a problem since.
Try it. I know we aren't perfect, but trust your misbegotten flock. Unlock the page, then place a comment at the page's top saying, "no reversing the order of this page as an in-joke, it's frustrating for those unfamiliar with the work and serves no useful purpose. Please see discussion page if you wish to discuss this." Expand on your reasoning in this discussion page, even if it's a verbose version of "in-jokes suck." There will be some discussion, some idiotic bitching, at worst an Edit War... but at the end of the day, most people will shrug and say, "fair enough." If it gets too frustrating, and people prove to be more imbecilic than I expect, you can always just re-lock the page.
Edited by KillerClownsChecking Locked Pages, I see you had to deal with four reversions. That context explains your locking action, and you should have mentioned that in your top comment there. Now, I still propose my previous solution, if you didn't already attempt it: place a large comment explaining that this was, in fact, an intentional, moderator action and not a Wiki Vandal ruining their "fun." Something like this:
DO NOT REVERT THIS PAGE TO ITS PREVIOUS, REVERSED STATUS. The reversed in-joke wasn't funny the first time, and it only frustrates and annoys users unfamiliar with the work. If you wish to discuss this decision, take it to the discussion page, and don't start an Edit War by just reverting the page. -Fast Eddie
Hell, if you're feeling distrustful, leave the page locked for a week or so to let any tempers explode here, then unlock it with the above comment. If that doesn't work... I'll shut up and leave you in peace.
Edited by KillerClownsUnlock the page. Just because one person made an unfunny joke doesn't mean you have to punish all of us for it. SOME OF US have genuine contributions to make.
...A lock. Not just a lock, but a lock out of nowhere to remove the main joke of the article, which has been that way for longer then I have been with TVT. Now, after having to deal with 4 separate revisions I can kinda understand... But you know, some people actually have contributions to make. Could you unlock the page, please?
There is a girl with a crown and a scepter...a) Locking a page completely makes it difficult for people to contribute to it, Eddie.
b) I actually think there's room on TV Tropes for some "alternately arranged" pages, and will in fact just make people curious about the work rather than turn them off, but if you feel so strongly about it, just put a mod-note at the stop of the page threatening fire and brimstone if someone tries to revert it, and unlock the page.
My suggestion is to unlock the page, add a comment at the top of the article telling editors to make this page straightforward, and then make a Darth Wiki or Just for Fun page where people can in-joke to their hearts' content.
At the end of the movie is another Freeze-Frame Bonus: In an impossible flashback, Leonard is with his wife, in the bed, and he has the "I catch him!" (or something) tatoo. Can someone add it *?
Someone change Xanatos Sucker to Unwitting Pawn; i can't due to the locked status.
