I'd like to add this to Reasonable Authority Figure: Dodge himself. Perhaps due to his own unconventional command style Dodge is able to look past the oddness and general Bunny Ears Lawyerness (see above) of his crew to see how capable they really are.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.
Also also: Establishing Character Moment: When the Stingray encounters its first dive based difficulties Dodge and Howard are blase and pragmatic while the other featured characters are worried at best, panicked at worst. Dodge and Howard are proven to be correct.
