• Translation Convention: One possible reason for the scenes in which the terrorists talk to each other in English, despite other scenes in which they are heard talking in German (and the obvious benefit in talking to each other in German whenever possible).
  • Though no explanation as to why the German terrorist doesn't understand when Hans tells him to "schieß dem Fenster," until he repeats it in English. Or even why he repeats it in English.
    • It´s terrible German. The confused look he gets in return can be hilariously captioned with "It´s 'Schieß auf das Fenster,' Idiot!" which is done here.
  • If this is when Hans tells Karl to shoot the glass it could be because Karl doesn't understand the order...why waste bullets on glass when they can shoot him dead? If so this is a Call-Back to Hans' plan to have John neutralized, as if the glass cripples him he would no longer be a threat, presumably.
  • There are a number of hints in the film that Hans is not actually German and his use of the language and nationality is a put-on. This is completely undone by the third movie, though.
    • We've already seen that the team's hacker is not German, so perhaps the entire team is multinational and don't all speak German.

I am astonished that there is no Oh, Crap! Trope on this page, since pretty much every dangerous situation John or other characters experience this moment at least once. Like the scene where John underestimated how much C4 he used. That being said there should also be a trope as sort of a branch of that trope. SPOILER ALERT The reason being, is that there is a scene where Hans Gruber and John Mc Clane finally meet each other. It starts out when Hans is checking on the C4 rigged to blow the roof. He jumps off the platform, only to find a sub-machine gun pointed to his face and its not held by one of his men. That's Oh Crap number one. The shooter just so happens to be John himself and confirms this, by saying hi in the voice that matches the one he heard on the radio. That's Oh Crap number 2. With Quick thinking, Hans uses his fake American Accent which seems to fool John. John apparently trusts him enough to hand him his own gun. When he turns around he hears Hans speak to his radio in german. That's Oh Crap number one for John. Hans tries to shoot, John but can't because he took the bullets out. That's Oh Crap number 3 for Hans. Whereas his henchman show up which makes it Oh Crap number 2 for John.

Should this be an Oh Crap scoreboard or some kind of trope like that?

I'm not sure which trope to use in this case, but surely Zeus from With A Vengeance would fit into one racism trope.

Would anyone be on board with creating WMG page for the series? I say this knowing it seems there's a Die Hard 5 on the horizon.

Anyone else think each Die Hard film should get its own page? Just having the one for all four films - each one fairly Troperiffic on its own - means the current page is kinda long.
