Has anyone noticed that Tony was spared because he basically performed a Confession?
He had no idea who he was confessing to, the people he was confessing to had no idea who he was until he basically told them, he was genuinely remorseful for his sin(s), and he was forgiven.
I think this could qualify for a Fridge Logic entry.
