Could Barbie be considered a Golem made by her creator Ruth Handler? Given the Jewish origins of the doll line and how Ruth imbued Barbie with her hopes and dreams for girls, it seems plausible.

Should things like Darker and Edgier really count for this movie? It's not really shown to be connected to the other Barbie movies in any way, and clearly wasn't designed to co-exist in the same fictional universe as any of them. I doubt most of the adult audience is even really familiar with those movies.
