This page needs to be relegated to the Permanent Red Link Club. He was an evil SOB who deserves no publicity, and having a page on him will only invite controversy. Additionally, outside of the UK he's just not that notable.
Hide / Show RepliesAgreed. The temptation to include "Complete Monster" is just too great - and utterly justified.
Seconded.
It would be better to strike him from the wiki totally than have this crapshow of a page that dances around the fact he was a prolific child molester with only one line mentioning "involved in a large sex abuse scandal"
It's like some kind of sick whitewashing.
Honestly, more should be mentioned of the scandal because outside the UK, it's all he's known for. Any time he's mentioned on US media, it's in regards to said scandal. It would be a more useful note if the page went into something more specific than what really sounds more like a teaser for the main thing.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.I don't know why, but I think we need a rule of cautious editing judgement warning.
Hide / Show RepliesI agree, but frankly I still have to question the good taste of putting Friend to All Children with zero references to his, well, child abuse. Maybe just a curt mention that he was actually a subversion? No need for details, but I think leaving the trope entry stand as it is is... uncomfortable.
I know this: if life is illusion, then I am no less an illusion, and being thus, the illusion is real to me.I disagree, this page simply needs to just go. No matter what his other traits and achievements were, he'll now always be a Depraved Kids' Show Host and a Complete Monster to the British public. There is no reason for a page on such a sick person to exist. It should just be buried in an unmarked grave, just like he is.
Just checking to get an idea about how TV Tropes handles situations where a Creator is un-masked as a sexual offender, especially against children. At time of writing (24/11/2022) there is a new situation bubbling under in Britain that may well implicate a celebrity, who has their own Creator page here; it could well be one or both of two people.
Getting that TVT takes a neutral "no such thing as notoriety" stance, accepts the Creator page must remain to mark that the person did make contributions to the creative world, and then locks the page to prevent edit wars and flamebait? Seems sensible.
Elderly curmudgeon and awkward person. Professional old fart.
