"Hafþór is his family name"? I am quite certain that that is his first name. People in Iceland don't have classic family names, they have patronymes, meaning his father's name is Björn and thus he's called "Björnsson".
Unless of course he changed his name so that it's his family name which I didn't know then (and also couldn't find with a quick google search) but I also don't really want to change it just like that if I'm not 100% sure... so could someone maybe elaborate?
