Yes- The Way of Kings, book one of The Stormlight Archive, features a very beautiful Whelan cover. And that you used to play Magic with him is very cool.
''All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us..."You knew Brandon Sanderson? Jaw drop.
"Oh great! Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them!"I've been wondering: Should we put the Cosmere-centric characters, such as the Shards and Hoid, in a Character page under Brandon Sanderson?
My reasons for this: - Rayse (Odium), who has influence in Sel and Roshar both, is listed on both, but only characterized in our The Stormlight Archive page, due to "appearing" there first. - There is mention of Ati (Ruin), Aona (Devotion), and Skai (Dominion) in The Stormlight Archive by way of the Letter, in spite of them being from Mistborn and Elantris, respectively. - Hoid, who has a part in various series, is listed separately.
It seems to make sense to instead list the Cosmeric Forces on a page here. As for other Worldhopping characters, only listing their parts in the Seventeenth Shard, or whatever other reasons, and linking otherwise to their respective pages of origin.
Is this a good idea or no?
Hide / Show RepliesI think that would be good, especially if it's done now, rather than after the Cosmere continues to grow.
I'd been hearing about Brandon Sanderson for a few years now, most loudly from his work on The Wheel Of Time — but it took me this long to figure out that he's the same Brandon Sanderson I used to play Magic with in college. Huh.
Anyway, I remember him saying back then, when he talked about writing, that he very much wanted Michael Whelan to do a cover for one of his books. Does anybody know whether he managed this before Whelan stopped doing commissioned work?
