So let me get this straight: Thanos, who has killed entire planets, wiped out whole species and brutally mindrapes people on the drop of a dime, is only spared from being regarded as a complete monster because he ahs 3 redeemable traits?

Characters who have done much less, get way more recognition and that just doesn't make sense.

He only has one "redeemable" trait: His stalker-love for Lady Death/the incarnation of the nihilism that he believes in. And yes, I agree with you.

But the editorial policy is that each character is gauged by how much they do within the reach of their scale, whether they have moral agency, and if they are capable of feeling love towards somebody or in this case something else.

Of course, in some cases, such as Obito from Naruto, this, and his Utopia Justifies the Means goal (as compared to Thanos' Dystopia Justifies the Means), has been ignored, and he was put there anyway, so the evaluations are far from consistent.
