I feel a bit uncomfortable with Palapatine getting the Adaptational Nice Guy trope, which is about niceness. Anyone who is into Star Wars lore can see Palpatine wants power for its own sake and only uses Darth Vader to have more power. Yes, Palpatine allows Vader more leeway here than in the Legends continuity, but it might be because a more independent and autonomous Vader might be more useful to his goals than a Vader who feels Palpatine constantly breathing down his neck. In other words, Palpatine lets Vader do his own thing because its useful, not out of goodness of his heart. This is just my opinion. What do you think?
