I was wondering, about Fergus... can he be considered an Ensign Newbie? For now I'm picturing him as somebody who is surprisingly good at this whole political thing (for one, he apparently knows how to speak with journalists) but lacks experience. And that I mean "when shit's going down around him he panics and buys a bank". Though he might have taken into account the fact that the blame for raising taxes would have fallen on Peter, but still, you know what I mean.

Which actually reminds me, is there a trope that describes people who have very cunning plans but forget one very minor detail? (Adam "let's make Glenn leak this e-mail WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE LEAKED EVERY SINGLE E-MAIL ATTACHED TO IT" Kenyon, we're looking at you)

Or is that 'every single evil plan ever'? Because I do realise I just described every single evil plan ever.

So, now that Not!Labour is out of government and the Not!Tories and Not!Lib Dems are in, should this list be re-organized by Party? That might be a bit difficult, since only the Lib Dem analogues have a nickname (Inbetweeners).

Yeah, it certainly needs to be reorganised to recognise the new status quo, and the new characters like Fergus and Helen Hatley.

Good work Ice Crystal, but that's not Adam Kenyon, that's Guardian editor Geoffrey from series 3. Adam Kenyon was the night editor of the Daily Mail from Spinners And Losers. I'll try and post a pic later if you haven't got one:

"Do you know what I'm gonna change page 4 and 5 to now? Its gonna say "Junior government gimp wrecks ex-girlfriend's career." How about that? Do you like that? Do you know what I'm gonna do, Oliver Reeder? I'm gonna spend the rest of my life dedicated to persecuting you in the most poisonous vendetta ever known in the British media, how about that? You have a great day, you have a smashing fucking day."

Ha ha, whoops. I must admit, it's been awhile. I swear I saw him before series three, but maybe he just... stands out. The hair.

Good job with the actual Adam Kenyon! *thumbs up*

I think I watch TTOI far too much... and how can we have left out poor, hapless John Duggan? I love him... so I've put him in! Can anyone suggest more tropes to describe him?

...and is Phil Smith really a Straight Gay? I had him down as someone who didn't have sex with women or men:

"Can we stop talking about my relationship? Just because you've never had one..." - Emma Messinger

I'm not sure about Phil being Straight Gay either. I never got that impression, but I imagine it comes from Will Smith's Twitter. (Jokes before ep 8 about his character and Addison's in the shower, something, I don't follow it.) I'm not sure that qualifies as Word of God, though. To me Phil always just seemed like he was engaging in one-sided Belligerent Sexual Tension with Emma.

Then again, some people don't see Malcolm/Jamie. And it's so obvious. ;)

Peter Mannion: "What is this, sexual tension?"
Phil Smith: "I'd rather pay for it..."
Emma Messinger: "I'd rather eat my own shit..."

I'm not sure it was entirely one-sided... but there's something there alright.

Malcolm's Character Alignment: I was never sure about this because he hovers between being an Anti-Hero and a Villain Protagonist. He's not really a hero or a villain, and he could even be a neutral... but Lawful Evil does seem very close now you mention it. If a trope is illustrated with a picture of Darth Vader the chances are it also applies to Malcolm. I think you should add it to the main page.

Steve Fleming- Foe Yay / No Yay: I was thinking about the issue of Nicola's swearing before. Nicola starts series 3 being shocked by Malcolm's swearing, then tries to emulate it until she's swearing like a trooper by the end of the series, something she doesn't realise until Steve Fleming points out her rather forced "sailor's wang on shore leave" comment. Is there a trope for this? Playing By The Big Boy's Rules? Welcome To The Men's Room?

Good one, especially as she also goes from reluctantly accepting the job to becoming a bit more power-hungry. I'll add it.

Some of the entries here are a bit too descriptive, shouldn't this just be a list of tropes which apply to each character? I think some of the ones which have been elaborated on belong on the main page for The Thick Of It. Ted Baxter for example- it's a good one for Terri, but I think the explanation deserves to go on the main page, instead of being hidden away here.

I was wondering about that, aye. Most character sheets seem to contain descriptions of tropes just like main pages do though, and a plain list of tropes isn't very entertaining to read.

I'm not too familiar with character sheets, I thought they served to explain the relationships in shows with Loads And Loads Of Characters. I also thought they were short and sweet because they get less traffic than the main pages. I do think some of the tropes you've added here also belong on the main page- Steve Fleming is a textbook example of The Umbridge and Terri is a definite Ted Baxter, well-spotted- how we missed these before I don't know.

Hehe, thanks, sadly it's probably because there don't seem to be that many Thick Of It fans editing these pages yet. It's quite a Trope Overdosed series, too.

As to character sheets, picking a couple at random the Harry Potter and Avatar ones are very wordy, so it does seem par for the course. Even if they get less traffic than the main pages, most of them are good reads in their own right.
