Works pages shouldn't really redirect to Characters pages, and I've now created some series-specific works pages (more to follow).
The aim is then to create a ComicBook.Gambit Marvel Comics page (ComicBook.Gambit causes disambig issues on subpages) and use that as an index and umbrella page for the different ComicBook works.
The character page will then become purely a character trope page (probably limited to the main Marvel Universe 'Earth-616' version, like other Marvel pages), as originally intended.
