I think using pictures of the companions' actors is a step in the right direction, but I'm not so keen on some of the choices (particularly with regards to the direction they're facing). I might change them in the future if that's fine with whoever placed them.

I admit I haven't seen all of his episodes, but from what I've seen so far, Ian is The Hero because he's written as The Hero, with the Doctor presumably not attaining that role until later in Hartnell's run.
