I've noticed this page has some inconsistencies regarding spoiler tagging and the names of the new baywulves.

For spoilers, the only thing that's currently tagged right now are entries pertaining to the original sketches. However, some things from them are unspoilered while others are (and sometimes the same thing is tagged in some entries and not tagged in others. For example, the ratbirds are tagged in the All Flyers Are Birds and Whale Egg entries, but not in the Artistic License Biology entry).

My own thought regarding spoilers is that things from the original past the point in the current project should be tagged (as of this writing the baywulves have just been introduced to the new project, so everything past that from the original sketches should be tagged).

I'm also wondering if the Harmster and Northhound/Southhound sagas from the current project should be tagged as well, considering they're more plot-heavy than the rest of the work (at the moment, the former goes mostly untagged while the latter haven't been around long enough for it to matter), at least their later parts.

As for the new baywulves: officially, the name for the group as a whole is the Calliducyonidae, with the two species being called the northhounds and southhounds. However, entries made before this was revealed just call them the baywulves, as that was their name in the original sketches. As the name "baywulf" now refers specifically to a subspecies of the southhounds I don't think we should stick with that for referring to them as a whole; the question is whether to use "Calliducyonidae" or "northhounds and southhounds" for that. I'd personally go with the latter as that's easier to spell and remember, but the former might be better for the sake of future proofing.

Finally, would it be worth it to split entries relating to the original sketches and entries relating to the current project into separate folders? It might make it easier to tell what spoiler tags are referring to in that case, when/if the current project starts warranting them.

I do agree that it would probably be a good idea to spoiler the details (at least regarding the sophonts) of the original sketches beyond their point in the current project but I'm not sure about putting them in separate folders. I also agree that it would probably be best to change some of the name regarding the first Calliducyonidae entry to southhounds execpt for the ones regarding the father and son directly as evidence points to them belonging to the baywulf subspecies.

Think it's been long enough. Going forwards, this is what I plan doing regarding both issues:

  • Spoilering things related to the original sketches and the later parts of the sophont sagas, albeit with a note beforehand indicating what the spoiler in question refers to.
  • I think it still might be worth splitting the entries for the original sketches into their own folder eventually, but I'm not going to do that right now as all things considered there's not that many entries referring to them specifically.
  • Using Calliducyonidae for the northhounds and southhounds as a whole, using the names for the subgroups when appropriate. It's clunkier, but as we're still early on into their saga I figure it's probably best to futureproof it (as they might further split up into more species or merge into one unified species ala the harmsters, although in the latter case we'll probably have an easier to remember name to refer to them by).

I'm also planning on doing a lot of general grammar fixing over the course of these edits as well.

If anyone else wants to weigh in still, please do so.

Did Round 1 of spoiler tagging. Anything related to the previous sketches I prefixed as such. As for spoilering the current project, I opted to just do it for anything related to the Harmster's extinction save for the fact it happens at all (which I decided to treat as a Foregone Conclusion; this is a project detailing an entire planet's habitable period, after all).

Which creates a new problem: Now NO-SIHTT is basically a Walking Spoiler, and currently a lot of the entries talking about it and its role in the Harmsters' demise are completely blanked out. That's kind of No Beuno, but I have no idea how to reword the entries to fix that (and I'd rather not axe the entries entirely).

On a non-spoiler related note: the entries for Fantastic Fauna Counterpart and Mix-and-Match Critter are getting really long. I'm thinking they should be either trimmed down and not mention every single species that applies or moved to their own pages ala Shout-Out.
