So starship quibble: the ships don't decelerate from interstellar velocities and directly go to jungle-burning.
They decelerate into orbit, and then a pair of ships do further deceleration and use their drive plumes to, yes, burn the jungle.
Also to note: IIRC, the extended info from the first movie says something about the crew of the ships being specifically trained to never do that.
