\\\"I\\\'ve read this entire Discussion Page, on top of the Article, and I\\\'ve still yet to see a convincing, coherent argument for why \\\"This Troper\\\" is objectively bad.\\\"

Maybe you didn\\\'t read the pages through thoroughly. I\\\'ll give you several reasons:

1) This site is informal, but it\\\'s not used for whining about your own personal experiences on the main pages of articles.

2) Most average users won\\\'t or don\\\'t care who you are, what you\\\'ve done, and what it means in relation to any work in question. When I started visiting this site, I was put off by random people trying to pothole their names into various articles. It dilutes the power of the editor base as a whole by making it look as though the general populace is very vain.

3) There\\\'s already a TroperTales section for personal experiences in relation to tropes. It was created (I believe) because \\\"ThisTroper\\\" usage was polluting the wiki.

4) You are not a trope. Just because you thought Game X or Movie Y was amazing, doesn\\\'t mean you need to state that on a page focused entirely on the use and discussion of works.

5) There has already been much discussion over the past couple years on this subject. Most agreed that it was unneeded, overused and just plain silly to have random people trying to inject themselves into articles focused specifically on the usage of tropes based in media.

6) It is \\\'\\\'completely\\\'\\\' possible (and, I would believe, expected) to write entries or descriptions without injecting yourself or your past experiences into the narrative. I know, it might be hard for some new users, but you can do it.

I\\\'ll give you my exact summary of this term: when I edit on this site, I know and expect that no one knows or cares who I am. I know that I am editing a collaborative work, and not making the descriptions, tropes and pages I write about myself.

Once you get that mindset into your head, you\\\'ll understand why \\\"This Troper\\\" is unneeded, useless and redundant.
