# Tier Induced Scrappy: The Tau and the Necrons in Dark Crusade are both considered overpowered and therefore frowned upon in online games. The Necrons were fixed in Soulstorm (except for the Necron Lord which became even more broken), but the Tau... not so much.

* To explain: in Dark Crusade, the Tau had two things going for them: their scouts were Infiltrated by default (when most factions had to establish several buildings and/or do some research to get detectors and infiltrated units of their own) and their basic infantry had insane range, supposedly balanced by requiring a second building (and the time and resources that entails) to field any melee units. Soulstorm added this basic melee unit to the first barracks building, essentially breaking the Tau early game even more.
* The Necron\'s strength comes from only needing one of the two resources, power. While they do get benefits for holding Strategic Points and relics, these bonuses cap out at the fifth point held. By simply capturing the four nearest SPs and a relic, they get all the bonuses the need without being spread nearly as thin as other factions grappling for all the Requisition they can get, and probably have enough points to prevent a Take & Hold victory.

Uh, no, that\'s not true. The Kroot Carnivores didn\'t get any change between DC and SS, other than a slight cost increase, but both versions train them from the Tau Barracks. The Necrons aren\'t powerful due to only needing one resource, but because their basic troops are very cheap if used properly, very powerful once upgraded, and require \'\'no micro whatsoever\'\'. Their basic melee units utterly shatter morale around them, again, with no micro (their fear aura took a severe and deserved nerf in SS), and can be deployed en masse anywhere, soaking up firepower and being immune to damage until they\'re fully out. The Necron lord? Good combat out of the box, high mobility, and with upgrades? Overhyped ability to resurrect an army at no cost, mind-boggling ability to infiltrate his entire army, under-appreciated and absurdly powerful ability to \'\'prevent the entire enemy army from shooting\'\'...
