I guess I thought of this trope as being intentionally done while Maggie almost being killed and it being revealed that she was gay came off as two unrelated things. But you\'re right, aversion fits. I guess I should have read more carefully. Though to me the application of the trope seems like more of a coinciental combination of circumstances than a solid example.
