openInternet Indie Film Film
This was an indie film that was available on the internet in the mid and late 2000s, though I don't quite remember what website it could watched on (it definitely wasn't YouTube because of the homosexual themes, which would have gone against their TOS).
The film focused on a pair of women who were ex lovers that went their separate ways and got with different people; one of the women is currently living with a new female lover, while the other is engaged to be married to a man.
The bride-to-be has a shower the night before, and her ex lover is invited (I think they played the age-old, "We're just friends" card to throw people off). At one point, the pair step outside to chat with each other, and they start to make out with each other, showing they haven't quite gotten over each other, BUT, while the non-bride is quit to try to put a stop to it, the bride-to-be seems to think what they're doing it totally okay, because it's not as if she's cheating on her fiancee with another man.
I think the "lesson" of the film was about commitment, and that both women had to realize they both had commitment issues, but for entirely different reasons/context.
openNo Title Film
It was a Live-Action movie, part of the time it was black and white. Three Asian characters were Avatars in a videogame, a hot 20 something women, a show-off 20 something male, and a sniper old man. They traveled through plains and later mountains. At the end, they fought a dragon, and the sniper old man got the finishing strike.
Anybody know what this is called?
openScary walking tree(s) in asian fantasy movie Film
Once I saw an asian fantasy movie with walking trees. Could have been of chinese origin, but I am not sure. The story was about some romance. I do not clearly remember, because I saw that movie on the tv about 15-20 years ago. But I clearly remember that forest with those weird, scary trees, pulling out their roots of the ground and beginning to walk around. Does anybody know of that movie with these scary walking trees?
Edited by BasiltheRatresolved Late 80s-Early 90s Drama Christian-themed film (Home video only?) Film
In middle school several years ago, one of the tapes one of my classes watched was a drama Christian-themed movie, which might be on video only. It's about two teenagers or young adults who are in love, but I don't remember the conflict, perhaps the young woman has poor faith in God or Jesus. I think there is a church scene with a prayer or other speech spoken. Then there's a scene where the two characters are in a car and one of them is driving recklessly in a curvy road or whatever. Maybe one of them tries to tell the other to stop that driving behavior. The car crashes and both of them die. The young man goes to heaven while the young woman goes to hell and maybe the devil can be heard as well as the sight of darkness and fire. The hell scene was pretty scary to me.
openMovie About a Woman who gets abused by her father constantly Film
I was watching a video on Facebook about a woman named Lisa, who's constantly abused by her father and stepfamily...it was pretty bad. When her grandmother found out, she managed to get her out of the house and said house ends up catching ablaze after she escaped.
Does anybody know the name of the movie?
openHulu live action show (movie?) about a black woman marrying a chinese man Film
It was either a live action tv series or a movie on Hulu, all I can remember is that it was in England and had a Chinese man in a marriage with a black English woman, someone else was watching it so I completely missed what title it was, I don't even know whether it was a movie or a live action tv show though it was long enough.
openSome old VHS about farming. Film
I remember when I was younger I watched some old VHS about farming. It had a main character that could do magic and it had a music video in it set to the song "Down on the Farm" from this album. http://us.napster.com/artist/larry-siegel/album/real-songs-for-real-kids-vol-1/track/down-on-the-farm What was the name of that VHS tape?
resolved Generation female witches Film
The movie focused on a teen girl who was an environmentalist, she made clothes made out of recycled garbage and was bullied at school for it. She, her mom, and her grandma live together in a house in the woods. She finds out that they are witches but are hiding it from her. The magic is only passed down to females and there are three specific powers that can be active at the same time. I don't remember all of them but I'm pretty sure one of them is the power over nature. The grandma wanted to tell her but the mom was against it. Also I believe either the mom or the grandma was an artist.
Edited by chrisscrossresolved 80s movie with Santa having a broken foot Film
I havn't been able to locate this movie. I know is 80s or early 90s at most. It has an American family in what I think was Denmark finding that Santa Claus lives there (yes, not in the North Pole, he explains himself it was too cold) and how he wasn't going to be delivering gifts that they for having a broken foot. I remember he at one point changes dresses showing the different versions of Santa all over the world. Then it turns out he was faking the injure because he wanted to expend at least one Xmas nights in his house but is convince otherwise at the end of the movie.
openUnknown Film
It may have been film or tv. I never saw it myself, but I was told about it, and want to find it. It was about these soldiers fighting a war against sapient spiders, and who were actually being kept in a matrix-style simulation where they thought they were still fighting, or they thought they had won, but either way, they had lost.
resolved Alien tries to convey, I'm from space. Film
A movie where an alien who looks like a human doesn't speak the language, but tries to convey that he's from space, up to and including picking up a toy spaceship and wooshing it around. As far as I remember, the humans he's talking to still don't get it.
openOne of those weird 70s films Film
At least, I think it was from the 70s, if only because the picture and sound quality of what I saw seemed pretty common for movies during that decade.
Actually, this was just a clip I saw on either You Tube or Dailymotion many ages and moons ago, and what I remember from it was there was a girl who was being attacked and/or assaulted in the woods, and while she's on the ground, she keeps looking up at a nearby transmission tower/pylon that seems to emanate a loud electrical buzzing sound that grows louder and louder as the scene progresses, which keeps cutting between her face and the tower for the rest of the scene.
I don't know if it was a Sam Peckinpah movie, it seemed similar to his style though.
openHas anyone seen this tv show? Film
I keep thinking about this show I watched a couple years back but I can't seem to remember the name.
The show was set up kinda like black mirror. The only thing I can remember is the plot from the first 2 episodes.
One of the episodes was about a cab driver, and his gps became like an ai. It would reveal information about his passengers, leading to the cab driver killing them. One of his passengers was an old lady, but it turns out she was a baby sitter who was abusing the kids she takes care of. Another passenger was a guy he worked with, but it turns out the guy had lied against him to get a promotion at the job they used to work at.
In the other episode we're looking at the life of this girl. I don't remember much detail but the girl is looking for her highschool friend, it seems her friend had fallen off the face of the earth and no social media had been active in a while. She connects with their past mutual friend and they discover something weird is going on and their friend is in danger. That's all I can remember, it's been years. But I can't seem to find anything online about this show and I'm afraid I might be crazy or something since there's literally nothing online when I search up the plot. If anyone knows the show or has seen the v show please let me know.
Thanks in advance
resolved Horror Movie Where a Redhead Woman inflates due to a Parasite Film
I keep having this burning memory of seeing pictures of this one horror movie from the 1990's-2000's (whatever year it was) of a redheaded woman becoming inflated by the parasite of the movie. I know the memory, but I can't remember the movie.
resolved Film about an immigrant child who becomes a chess master. Film
I remember that I went to see this movie back when I was in high school. It was about an immigrant kid who fled to Paris with his father and later joined a chess club. One of the gags that I remember in this film was one where the father, due to not being fluent with the local language, accidentaly insults the chess club a bunch of times after a woman at a refugee centre told him some things about it (namely that its website sucked).
(edit: I found the name, it's Fahim!)
Edited by Janker72resolved Pirate Movie Film
Possibly Claymation movie about rather incompetent pirates. I do not remember much about it but maybe you can help. It would have came out only like 10-15 years ago, cause I saw it in theatres when I was little. Please help.
openHelp finding the title of a movie Film
I remember a scene from this movie. The scene was set in a desert, there were gangsters who had kidnapped a girl and there was the girl's father who had to bring a ransom or information to free her. At a certain point the man fights with the gangsters to give his daughter the opportunity to escape. She gets into a car and runs away but immediately gets stuck in the desert sand. She then gets out of the car and tries to escape on foot but she falls and is recaptured by the gangsters.
Can anyone figure out what movie this is?
openUnknown Film
It was either a TV series or a movie I watched in 1998 or 1999, late at night. The program screened in Sydney, Australia. So I am guessing this movie or TV series originates from 1990s (or possibly 1980s). I may be wrong, but I think the program may have screened on Channel Ten.
I only remember one or two scenes. In one scene, a man and a woman are initially looking at one another while talking, looking through each other through a fish tank. They eventually come close together and face each other, and start becoming intimate with one another. Another guy is spying or stalking this man and woman being intimate and eventually leaves. As the guy leaves, his car explodes, becoming airborne. The car explosion scene is interposed with the man and the woman making love (seen through the window).
There is a female character, who is very fit and seems to be skilled fighter. She later in the episode or movie protects the woman that I have mentioned above by fighting the man that she was intimate with (the man that I described above).
I have been cracking my brain to remember the name for years, but unsuccessful.
Many thanks in advance
I remember seeing the start of this film on TV sometime in the 1980s, but it was much older than that. At a guess, I'd say 1950s or early 1960s.
I can only clearly remember two parts. The first is the opening narration in which the narrator says that all men between 21 and 45 were required to register for the draft, this having been decided by a congress full of men slightly older than this. The second is the protagonist, a famous opera singer who has been drafted, filling out his enlistment papers and handing them to the sergeant. The sergeant looks at the papers and tells him he had made a mistake, and that the question asked him for his weekly income, not his yearly income. The protagonist replies that that his is weekly income, and the sergeant does a double take.
