Hype Backlash is fans praising a work such general audiences think it doesn't measure up, not prerelease promotions/expectations. So all the complaints it's subject to is the opposite of what "Hype" means here (nonindicative name, I know).

I think making any claims about how much hype there was about Wish is probably something that should be deleted. The Milestone Celebration is technically true, but the film's marketing was also infamously poor.

So, I should remove it?

Edit: Nevermind it was removed by a third troper.

They actually edit warred on another page. YMMV.Twisted The Untold Story Of A Royal Vizier:

  • They added Hilarious in Hindsight entry for how "Dream a Little Harder" is similar to the plot of Wish.
  • I removed it for being a stretch.
  • They re-added similar but tweaked entry that mentions the similarities under the same trope without discussing it anywhere.

Edit: And on Headscratchers.Once Upon A Studio:

  • They they added mention on how its unlikely that the lead of Wish will be made part of the Disney Princess lineup.
  • I removed due to be speculation and complaining.
  • They added again how it is unlikely that she will be added to it but for a different but reason similar reason. Again, without discussing it anywhere.

I do understand the complaints here, but I also agree that Hype Backlash didn't really work for the issue at hand. Should I link to specific reviews or something? I do think that a huge problem the film had with its reception was that it didn't live up to the expectations/hype for the centennial project. (I don't think marketing was the issue, to be honest - they certainly gave it a bigger push than Strange World and the like.)

^I don't think linking to reviews would help. I think the problem is that while I think it is something I don't think it is a good addition to the So Okay, It's Average as it makes it overly negative. We just need to figure out what trope it is.
