"Sussudio" by Phil Collins?
I'm afraid not. The pattern of the chorus went more like
- Line
- "Shu-shook"
- Short line
- "Shu-shook"
- Line
- "Shu-shook
- Short line
and so on

"Let's hear it for Nine Inch Nails! Woo, they're good!"fraid not
The only rock song with "shu-shook" noise of any kind that I can think of is "Come Together" by The Beatles.
So, I decided to make a recording of my humming what I remember (including the sh-shook) part. https://vocaroo.com/11KWPTVHO6Y6 the parts where I go "duhduhduhduh" were actual words in the song, I just don't remember any of them.
i feel like i remember this too. also recall hearing something like this on the radio often.
Edited by noodlesnook This post is brought to you by Diarmuid ZMight be way off, but even listening to your hummed recording, it bears a striking resemblance to New Order - Shellshock?

Alright, I'm placing Adriano Celentano's "Prisencolinensinainciusol" here, mainly because it has lyrics but they are nonsense. Male singer, rock-ish melody, most often unidentified song.

Edited by skewview AFK with issues, will returnNo. It was a fairly mainstream song, given it played on the radio a lot.
What region/territory have you heard this song in? Mainstream is a YMMV concept — which itself is a YMMV statement. It may be possible to find it in Top Charts of that decade, just want to know the region/territory since they could differ. Prisencolinensinainciusol, for instance, was very popular in Europe, not so much in English language territories though.

Striped White Jets by Guided by Voices?
No, although that is the right genre pretty much. For some more info: it had a faster tempo than that. Also,I the voice that said "shu-shook" sounded like a different person than the main singer.
This song from The '90s that was on the radio a lot.Male singer, genre maybe rock? The main think I remember is in the chorus someone says the "word" "shu-shook" repeatedly. The rest of the chorus (and the song in general) was real words, but I can't remember any to look up
