Another Retcon I found I think............ The origins of the Freedom fighters differs too in the new series
Mobius: 25 Years Later was a bit of a waste, really. It was interesting enough when it started, but it seemed more like a teen soap opera than an adventure story aside from the first and last parts.
Yep that was certainly retconned to my recollection.
The part that I liked was seeing these people's lives and their families which I assume is the teen soap operyness you speak of. Sure it wasn't amazing or very in depth but it was interesting I thought. It certainly was a waste though. I assumed that the last few parts were leading up to an event in the main storyline filled with time traveling awesome and action. But...no...

If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahI liked the issues which featured Knuckles meeting the surviving guardians and visiting his father's grave. I wasn't so keen on the installment which seemed to focus on Julie-Su in the kitchen and the other that featured half the cast having a sleepover while the rest played snooker.
Paying attention to the main characters' personal lives can be interesting, but when you have twelve issues to tell the story it's probably better to focus on the really interesting plot that was hinted it in the first few parts (you've misused Chaos power and it'll destroy the world if you can't stop it!). Maybe there was some interference on the editorial side; it honestly wouldn't surprise me. I think it's disappointing because that story could have been really great, especially considering what Ken Penders had foreshadowed in the Knuckles series.
Knuckles going to his father's grave is probably my second favorite thing in it. I can see that the things I liked most likely drug it down and prevented it from being awesome like it could have been, but I like it best none the less. Looks into characters mundane lives have always been something I've found most interesting.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahI suppose I just find it rather boring. As I say, looking at the personal lives of the characters isn't a bad idea, but the trouble is that in that series it felt like a subplot that was getting more attention than the main story.
Wait this is going in one big circle of "I like this thing we've been talking about because" "Well I DISLIKE it because"... Should we just agree to disagree and move onto some other topic? Like how funky the Overlanders look sometimes?
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahNot totally familiar with Overlander-centric arcs. Please explain.
Maria◊ Robotnik.◊ In the first she's just kind of scary in the second...uh...god what is that? The Kintobor family.◊ Again they look...odd. Hope isn't so bad, but they just bug me at times with how they're drawn. Especially when they're standing next to very highly stylized Overlanders like Eggman or the original Robotnik.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahThat was waaaay back, when Archie decided to forgo decent artists.
New RP!Yeah I'm still stuck in the realm of horrid artists...When does it end? The more recent issues look quite nice in that regard.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahArt improved when Yardley took over as head artist. He took over a few issues after Flynn replaced Penders.
New RP!Huh. From a light search through the credits of these things I don't have too far to go until I'm out then...About 15 issues or so.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahTitan Tails cannot be done right. Titan Tails isn't a good idea executed poorly: he is a bad idea. Period. Not even Alan Moore could do Titan Tails right, no matter how hard he tries or prays to his snake sock puppet god.
The best way to deal with him is to chuck him into the Dis Continuity bin.
New RP!I just got through the horror that is Titan Tails. I still say he looks like bad fan art drawn by a muscle fur fetishist. The idea itself isn't flawed I think. It's the execution and in particular that character design. THAT DESIGN. WHICH CANNOT BE SAVED FROM THE REALM OF SO BAD IT'S GOOD. I will be pretending that he doesn't exist. Or that he was really a giant Kyuubi type thing of awesome.

If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahTitan Tails was a literal Deus ex Machina that consisted of Tails fusing with every single one of his multiversal counterparts. How can you say that that idea wasn't flawed?
New RP!Because the idea of all the Tails fusing together isn't flawed. The execution was what was flawed. It was pulled off as an impossibly lame deus ex machina that looked like bad fetish art. Were more time given to the concept and were it not so lame I do think that Titan Tails could be something better than a joke.

If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan Chahactually, that second Maria◊ Aondeug linked to — the one identified as "uh...god what is that" — is Tracy Yardley! I recognize that shot — it's from 171.
I don't think Titan Tails was a great idea ruined by poor execution; more like an indifferent idea whose execution pushed it into ignominy. Frankly, the comic has had a lot of stupid but forgettable moments. Titan Tails was so over-the-top it couldn't be forgettable, but in terms of sheer stupidity there are worse examples. They just weren't such blatant eyesores.
I said that Yardley was a good artist. I never said that he was Patrick Spaziante.
New RP!I never said you did? Just that "oh that's from the dark ages of the comic" isn't accurate for that particular shot.
I'm very fond of Yardley!, myself. Except for the way he does hands.
I don't think it was a great idea though if somehow handled properly I suppose it could turn out to be. More closer to an indifferent or decent idea and the execution has turned it into an unforgettable joke of doom. It's hilarious, but it's just so horrible...which is why it's hilarious.
So that is Yardley? Huh. Well at least the rest of their stuff looks nice and better than what I am currently stuck looking at. I am beginning to consider that it might be impossible to get Maria looking anything but goofy or creepy. The games aren't any better in this regard and the less said about Maria's fandom the better.

Hey, it turns out that Penders can write well when he wants to.
New RP!
Ah...that's a bit disappointing to learn because really now...that ending was just...what?
