Villain Town: A Series of Mayhem

Hmph, charming... (Fintelle says dryly upon seeing their surroundings outside.)

(She looks up at the door to their new residence.)

...Well? Is someone not going to open the door? I'm certainly not. (She asks.)

I will, your Sharkliness!!! (Pip says, bounding across the ground and trying in vain to open it with only his head to use.)

(Fintelle sighs and fires off a small spell from her fin at Pip. Pip changes from a small green eel with pink spots to a big green basking shark with pink spots.)

Thank you, your Highness! (Pip chirps as he resumes pushing the doors.)

Pip opens the doors, and the villains step inside.

The lobby is a surprisingly massive, sprawling red and gold room with columns, tile floors, and elegant decorations. The back of the room is open, leading to a cavernous area with an enormous golden dragon sitting inside.

"Welcome," he says with a deep, rumbling voice. "I am Ignis. I used to guard piles of treasure, but now I guard this building."

Count Fledermaus is naturally a little afraid of Ignis, but even moreso, he's fascinated.

"Suddenly I am starting to like this vorld! Your scales are a little too bright, but still, I've never seen a dragon as impressive as you. There vere some smaller, cutesy vuns in my vorld, but nothing like you."

"Geeking out, boss? That's new for you," says Layla.

"I appreciate the compliment. As long as you don't cause trouble for the other tenants, we should get along just fine. And that goes for the rest of you, too. You see, I'm from a fairy tale. I never wanted to be "evil," per se. I just stood in the way of a knight. I'm not that bad, as long as you don't get on my bad side. Understood?"

“Sure, whatever you say titan.” Stacks was too intimidated by a living, breathing dragon to make any snappy comment back. Even he had his limits. But more importantly, the whole hotel was amazing to witness however. The finest etchings and golden flair that reminded him instantly of his old abode. The terrifying grandeur of it all.

Though a question came to mind with all this grandeur in the town. “I gotta wonder, why does this place even exist? Was it always like this?”

Oh, hi! Nice to meet you! You look just fantastic! (Pip waves at Ignis cheerfully, fascinated by Ignis's golden glimmer. He looks at Fintelle.) Doesn't he, you Sharkliness?

Now I feel I truly HAVE seen everything. (Fintelle says. She nods at Ignis.) But yes, understood...Ignis, was it? Quite majestic creature, I will admit. Almost as majestic as me.

"Well I hope these rooms of ours are good! The decor makes it twice as wonderful!" Stacks spurted out as he waited along with the others.

Suddenly, a gold key appears in each villain's hand, with a different symbol engraved on it.

"Here are your keys," says Ignis. "Go through this door on the left, and it won't be hard to find your rooms from there. You can go explore your rooms for now, and we will gather you all again later."

Fledermaus's Room

Count Fledermaus's key has the outline of a bat engraved in his key. He and Layla go down the corridor until they find a door with the same symbol.

When they open the door, they're in a very dark room. They can both see inside it with their night vision. It resembles a creepy castle with stone walls and a tiled floor. There are stained glass "windows" that don't actually go outside, they were just put up in front of the wall. There is a coffin for Fledermaus to sleep in and a small, fake tree for Layla to perch on. There is also a magnificent, spooky pipe organ for Fledermaus to play. (Luckily for the other tenants, the walls are somehow soundproofed.)

"Ah, I am really beginning to like it here now!" says Count Fledermaus. "Pitch black, just the vay I like it!"

He goes up to the organ and plays the first few bars of Toccata and Fugue in D Minor.

"They certainly nailed our style of interior decorating," says Layla, perching on the tree. She closed her eyes and relaxed as Count Fledermaus continued playing.

The Vaccal's key has the symbol of a skull much like its own.

The room is red all over, with a damp, rusty texture. Tree-like patterns run along the walls. It is the most familiar thing the creature has felt since it arrived here... but something's different.

In a darker shade than the confinements of the room, shapes seem to emerge from the walls. Flat sheets dot the walls, and larger lumps form the shape of what anything else would recognize as furniture.

The Vaccal looks oddly at these features. These shapes don't feel familiar to it, but something deep within seems to send a shudder through the creature's body.

It stands near the far wall of the room, deep in thought.

The Kitsune Queen's key has a symbol of a nine-tailed fox in it.

Her room consists of piles of gold, riches, and more. Alongside it is a golden throne for her to sit on, a dressing room consisting of the most queen-like dresses fit for her, a makeup room, a luxurious flower garden room, a ballroom for her to dance in, and tons more for her own beauty, it's like a shrine dedicated to her, filled with paintings, statues, and more stuff of herself. Truly, it is a luxurious room, if she does say so herself.

"Yes.. YES! This is all I ever wanted from my room! With all these rooms and luxuries in there, it makes me feel like a queen again! It's like they made elegant shrine for me.. AND I'M LIVING IN IT!, the queen said with all her joy, before laughing like a noblewoman and sitting down on the golden throne.

"I really like this room, it reminds me of my castle, and it's truly beautiful..", she says, as she relaxed in her room of elegance.

Ooh...oh boy oh boy, let's see our room! Let's see our room! (Pip says eagerly upon seeing the key Fintelle received.)

Patience, Pip. We shall get there momentarily. (Fintelle says.) It had better meet my standards.

(She huffs as she passes by the other Queen's room on the way there.) And it CERTAINLY should be better than her room. (Fintelle mutters upon seeing the ornate furniture, garden, and treasure inside the kitsune's room.)

(Finally, Fintelle reaches her room with Pip still following behind. Fintelle turns the lock, opens the door, and...)

...How...? (The interior of the room looks remarkably like a condensed version of her old castle, if it were above water, anyway. Marble columns line the walls, a sea green carpet goes from the door to a replica of her own sky blue coral throne sitting against the back wall of the throne room they are entering, and Fintelle recognizes her bedroom, her spa, dining room, ballroom, through the various doorways (likewise in a slightly smaller form than her old castle).)

Even the entrance to my secret library... (Fintelle says, feeling the wall behind her throne.) ...Well...even I must admit that they did a very good job here. I would have liked water like my real castle did, but...hmph, it'll do.

Ooh, your Sharkliness! (Pip says, pointing to a control panel by the entrance with several levers attached.) This lever fills the place with water! It's asking for you to enchant the doors and windows first so it doesn't leak out, though.

Oh? Very well. (Fintelle mutters. With a wave of her flippers, the doors and windows are sealed.) There. Pull the lever, Pip.

(Pip pulls a lever, and the floor underneath Fintelle opens up, dropping her into a pool of water.)

Pip, you pulled the wrong lever, you dolt! (Fintelle shouts.)

My mistake, your Sharkliness! I'll fix it! (Pip says, frantically grabbing for the lever again.)

(But it becomes clear pretty fast that this is where the water that fills the room comes from, as the room rapidly fills up.)

Oh...! (Pip says when he realizes this.)

...Well...as much as I hate to admit it, I was wrong, Pip. Forgive me. (Fintelle says. She sheds her royal cape and settles down onto her throne.) ...Ugh, I still do NOT understand why I am here, or why you are here, but...at least they know how to make us feel at home.

Yes, your Highness! (Pip agrees.) I think I could get used to this place!

(Fintelle just huffs in response as she reclines in her throne.)

Dee Annie Kris

Even with all this confusion, both inside and outside her, one thing Dee knew was curiosity. She followed slightly behind the other Villains. She didn't exactly like the fact she had to work... together with others, Or the fact she had to share a town with possibly unstable individuals. She did like the room idea though. Walking outside, Dee looked up at the sky and sniffed the air greedily. "Smells just like home." she laughs, before looking at the building marked "A113", clicking her tongue at the golden double doors at a not-so-fond memory. At the sight of Ignis, Dee's eyes grow big, and she has to shove her fist into her mouth to prevent herself from squealing in delight. When she feels something metallic poke the inside of her cheeks, Dee pulls out the golden key to her room, gold with the symbol being twin horns curving into a circle, with seven circles, brown, red, green, yellow, pink, violet and orange, inside them. "I hope this joint has everything!" Dee laughs, before moving to her room, inserting the key into the lock, and turning it with barely-restrained glee and anticipation.

The Anti-Christ's Room

One could be forgiven for mistaking the door as a portal to Hell itself. Inside, fire reigned supreme, and the air smelled of brimstone. The ground was red and rocky, and the room split into two directions. To the right led to her bedroom, which, in contrast to the inhospitable conditions the rest of the rooms were in, was perfectly... normal. Well, of course it was the lushest bed, comforters, blankets, money could've bought, Dee had standards, after all. It looked like a royal bedroom, minus the color palette being Red and Black and Evil All Over. To the left lay her royal bath, which was simply a hot spring made of lava. With a thought, Dee adjusted the fires and the baths, turning the fires down and turning the bath to ice. With a wide-eyed grin, Dee laughs, "Oh yeah, I think I'm gonna like it here." There were no wardrobes, because why would the Morningstar be anything but perfect?. She could simply summon imps and skin them if she needed clothes. All in all, she was very satisfied, especially since in plain view of any who stepped through the door, at the fork, was a towering red throne made of a spiky red crystal resembling ice. She sat on the throne, reclined, and yawned.

Debby squeeled in joy, seeing her room. She rushed to the middle of the room, jumping onto the large four poster bed.

Harv cleared his throat. "Why don't you stay here, Doll, while I go.... um, see where an ice machine is."

Debby nodded and begin stacking pillows to see how high she can make them.

Harv left the room, sighing in relief that his programming safe guards allowed him to lie to Debby for her own good. He had made note of all the possible minions he had seen in the theater and set off to look for a fellow minion to talk with.

Stacks stared at his key for a while, one with a dollar sign emblazoned on it, wondering what wonders this mysterious world could bring. Probably not anything good, he thought. Finally arriving at his door, he opened it up to something familiar. An almost-complete recreation of his old office building, where he spent so much of his time. They had the antique wooden desk, the teal rug. Even a small radio that played the songs of his day, next to a window that looked out to the so-called town of villainy.

“Oh my word, they got everything here!” He looked to see something hat caught his eye. “My old pictures too! Me as a pup, and there with my first buy, then me with Horace, all the good days…” It felt eerie how familiar it was, but in the moment, it felt amazing after a day of weirdness. “It’s good to be back.”

Just as the villains are getting settled into their rooms, suddenly, something unexpected happens. There is a loud crackling of electricity as the rooms start flickering with bright light. Then there's the sound of something electric powering down as the villains' rooms suddenly get darker.

Since Fledermaus's room is already dark, he only notices the flashing lights and flickering sounds, and he covers his eyes frantically.

"AUGH! Vhat vas that?!"

"Boss, are you okay?" says Layla, flying over to Fledermaus.

Fledermaus uncovers his eyes and realizes that the room is dark again.

"I'm fine. But I swear someone is trying to kill me. I'm gonna go give that big dragon a piece of my mind!"

"Wait, boss. You don't want to make that dragon mad. He could crush us both without a second thought."

Fledermaus thinks for a second, then nods begrudgingly. "Yes, I suppose you're right. Then ve vill get the others to come vith us. That dragon has a lot of explaining to do!"

Fledermaus and Layla leave their room and enter the hallway.

(Fintelle tuts in annoyance when the lights suddenly turn off.) Pip...

Wasn't me, your Sharkliness! (Pip says.)

If not you, then WHO? It certainly wasn't ME! I despise sitting in the dark! (Fintelle says.) Ugh...I suppose we must...ask someone about this. Come along, Pip.

Right away! (Pip says, draping himself across Fintelle's shoulders again.)

(Fintelle lowers the water level and leaves the room. She very quickly spots Fledermaus and Layla.)

You two! Who is responsible for this? I was just getting used to my new surroundings here! (She asks them.)

The Kistune Queen was satisfied with her new room, just relaxing and enjoying a glass of wine, that is until the lights went down in her room. As she notices, she spits out her wine in shock.

"What th- Okay, who turned out the lights in here? I can't see a stupid thing due to this dark atmosphere in MY beautiful castle!

She grabs a candle and lights it as she heads out her room and into the hallway.

"There's something screwy around this, and when I find out who's making these strangle cackles, I'm gonna make him pay, and bow down.. TO ME!"

Harv turned back to Debbie's room. "DOLL!"

"It wasn't me, Harv!" said Debbie.

Harv sighed, then scratched one of his long ears. "Did you see anyone else who looked like a mad scientist in the big meeting?"

Debbie thought, then shook her head.

Harv sighed. "So, any idea where the fuse box would be in a building like this?"

The Vaccal flinches at the lights turning off. This wasn't entirely dissimilar to how it felt when it was first pulled from the place it called home, and it was afraid of being taken away yet again. Upon realizing that it is still in the same place, it slowly lumbers out of the room to make sure nothing else has changed.

Stacks was laying in peaceful luxury before the lights went out. “Of all the stinkin’ things to happen now…” The small window only provided a little crack of light from the bustle of the town. He stubbornly stumbled across his room before opening the door to the hallway.

The villains reenter the main lobby of the building. The lights are out. Ignis is there, and his red eyes are glowing in the dark.

Count Fledermaus is not afraid, though.

"Listen here, you overgrown gecko! Something is wrong vith this building, and now you're going to face my 80's cartoon villain wrath! Vhile I do appreciate the darkness, I DO NOT appreciate the bright flickering that came before!"

Count Fledermaus raises his Darkwand. A huge ball of darkness begins to form at the top.

"Either you fix things so that I can go back to my room vithout fear of being suddenly blasted with horrendous light, or I vill be forced to blow your scaly face to kingdom come!"

Ignis stays silent for a few seconds. Then he speaks.

"Good effort, but I'm not particularly intimidated. Does anyone else wish to try, or should I explain what happened?"

Count Fledermaus sulks and lowers the Darkwand. Layla, sitting on his shoulder, pats his other shoulder comfortingly.

I haven't the faintest idea how this building works, so I think I shall wait for you to explain. (Fintelle says.)

"Is the building powered by an Arc Reactor with a paladium/deutronium core... or the power of a child's imagination?" asked Debbie. "Because, unless it is, I'm not sure how much I can help with it."

“Oh, don’t tell me you’re one of those believers in renewable energy.” Stacks groaned. “Or what, you got some power of friendship junk?”

"Well at least we can resort to the powers of my MAGIC SCEPTER!" Diamelle said, as she turned the pages in her spell book, but since it was dark, she used her fire powers as a light.

"A-HA! Now there's a spell for bringing up light magic right HERE!" She stated as she pointed to a spell in her spell book that summons bright light powers. "Here goes nothing!" She said as she tried to bring back the light in the building with her "Power of Light" spell.

Diamelle's spell illuminates the room.

"SCREEEE!!! CURSED LIGHT!" Count Fledermaus shields his eyes.

"Impressive," says Ignis, "But it is only a temporary fix. As some of you have surmised, this building runs on electrical power. However, someone is currently sapping our power. It's one of the other residents of this town, Tentavolt. The town leaders told me to assign you all to go down to the sewers, where our power grid is located, and stop him. Any questions?"

"Vhy don't you stop him, you silly scalehead?" says Count Fledermaus.

"I can't leave this room. It's my duty to stay here and guard the place. Also, the town leaders want you to have the experience of working together. Anything else?"

"Sewers?" says Debby. "That sounds like minion work to me."

She pushes Harv forward.
